Binkley Brings Presidential Campaign to Iowa

A business consultant and pastor from Texas is the latest Republican candidate for president to visit Iowa. Ryan Binkley came to Iowa this week following his official announcement late last month.
He says he first considered running for president eight years ago, and became more certain two years ago. And the main reason is to bring our country back together from its current deep divisions.
“It’s time for us to trust in God again. Our founders gave us some thoughts about what does this mean. Well Jesus put it this way – he said you show your love for God by loving your neighbor and I think this is the way we need to demonstrate our love for God is by changing our outlook and start loving our neighbor and those around us.”
Binkley also believes the Republican Party must find ways to appeal to at least two groups of voters who favored Joe Biden in 2020 – urban residents and college students.
“Young people are idealists, they’re dreamers. They want to believe the world can be changed and they can be a part of it. the Republican Party, we have the best message – we’ve got a message of freedom, smaller government, and more opportunities. But we need to connect better to younger people and show authentically we care about the most hurting in society.”
His platform includes bringing more competition to health care, a comprehensive immigration policy that includes more than just sealing borders, and fiscal responsibility.
Binkley plans to spend two to three weeks each month in Iowa, leading up to the caucuses early next year.
