2024 Presidential Iowa Caucus

Iowa REPUBLICAN CAUCUS OVERVIEW

WHAT IS A CAUCUS?

A caucus is a closed meeting for members of the same party. Iowa’s political parties gather for caucus meetings every presidential election cycle. Caucuses are held locally across the state to elect local party leadership, discuss the party’s platform, and support a presidential candidate.

WHEN IS THe CAUCUS?

Republicans will caucus Monday, January 15, 2024. All caucuses will start promptly at 7pm. (Plan to arrive early to get checked in)

HOW DOES THE VOTING WORK
  • Picking a candidate: Caucus participants will have an opportunity to cast a vote for their preferred candidate for president. This vote will be held by a simple paper ballot towards the beginning of each caucus meeting.
  • Tallying votes: The votes are counted immediately after paper ballots are collected and the results will be announced during the caucus meeting.
  • Selecting delegates:  You will also have an opportunity to be become a delegate for the county convention during the meeting. We encourage our supporters to volunteer to serve as a delegate for your respective county’s convention.
